Overview

The Strategic Account Executive – Data Products is a senior, quota-carrying individual contributor responsible for acquiring net-new customer logos and closing high-value, multi-service technology rental and lifecycle engagements. This role is focused on creating new revenue opportunities where traditional transactional sales approaches are insufficient.

Operating as a trusted advisor, the Strategic Account Executive leads executive-level discoveries, shapes complex solutions, and closes strategic engagements across technology rentals, deployment logistics, and lifecycle programs. While not a people manager, this role provides subject-matter leadership on complex opportunities and supports other sales executives as strategic solutionists.

The primary mission of this role is to open new doors, win first-time customers, and convert initial engagements into repeatable, long-term rental and lifecycle relationships.

Responsibilities

Strategic Business Development & New Account Acquisition

  • Originate and close net-new strategic revenue with a focus on new customer accounts
  • Target high-value opportunities across events, enterprise projects, high-growth startups, and partner-led engagements
  • Identify opportunities where standard rental or transactional sales approaches do not meet customer complexity
  • Lead executive-level discovery and value-based sales conversations
  • Own deal strategy from initial pursuit through contract close

 

Strategic Solution Design & Deal Shaping

Architect bundled solutions centered on Rush’s core capabilities, including:

  • Short-term and long-term PC and device rentals
  • Deployment, configuration, set/strike, recovery, and logistics
  • Lifecycle management, refresh programs, and asset recovery
  • Event and project-based workforce enablement
  • Partner-delivered services where applicable (e.g., MSP collaboration)
  • Partner closely with operations and delivery teams to ensure solutions are scalable, profitable, and operationally sound
  • Influence pricing, scope, and margin strategy on complex engagements

 

 

Strategic Deal Influence & Sales Enablement (Non-Managerial)

  • Act as a strategic SME and solution architect on select high-value opportunities led by other sales executives
  • Support executive presentations, discovery sessions, and solution modeling on complex deals
  • Contribute to deal strategy, packaging, and positioning without formal people management responsibilities
  • Participate in key opportunity and account reviews as a subject-matter leader

 

Go-To-Market & Offering Development

  • Provide market feedback to leadership on customer demand, pricing models, and competitive positioning
  • Assist in defining, refining, and piloting strategic rental and lifecycle offerings
  • Support vertical-specific solution development (events, startups, MSPs, enterprise project teams)
  • Help mature repeatable enterprise-level sales motions and solution packaging

 

Success Metrics

  • Net-new customer accounts acquired
  • Net-new revenue closed against assigned quota
  • Average deal size and multi-service attach rate
  • Gross margin and profitability of strategic engagements
  • Conversion of first-time customers into multi-month rental or lifecycle programs
  • Revenue influenced through supported strategic opportunities

 

Role Scope, Authority & Compensation Eligibility

  • Individual Contributor role with no direct people management responsibilities
  • Quota-carrying position with authority to originate and close strategic opportunities
  • Recognized subject-matter leader on complex, enterprise-level engagements
  • Eligible for commission on both directly originated revenue and revenue materially influenced through strategic solution design and deal support

 

Qualifications

  • 7 to 10 years of experience in senior sales roles with a focus on technology rentals, enterprise technology, IT services, or solutions-based sales
  • Proven success originating and closing complex, high-margin, net-new business
  • Strong executive-level discovery, consultative selling, and deal-shaping skills
  • Deep understanding of technology lifecycle models, asset management, logistics, and service delivery
  • Ability to lead cross-functional deal teams without formal authority
  • Demonstrated hunter mentality with a track record of winning new customer logos
  • BA/BS degree or equivalent, technical degree required
  • Computer literate (Microsoft Office Suite applications)
  • Valid driver’s license with clean driving record

 

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

All positions will require, to some degree, the physical abilities described below to perform the essential functions of the job in an office environment

 

  • Work the expected hours, consistently arrive at work at the agreed time and follow Company rules and guidelines regarding breaks and meal periods.  Full time is typically considered to be 40 hours per week
  • Communicate effectively both orally as well as written.  Ability to be understood in face-to-face communication, in person or remote, to speak with level of proficiency and volume to be understood over a telephone or computer.
  • Ability to encounter constant work interruptions; work cooperatively with others; work independently; work indoors. Prolonged period sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Work in a low to moderate noise environment with frequent deadline pressures.  Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull objects weighing up to 10 pounds.
  • Be able to read documents.  Ability to read small print and view a computer screen for prolong periods, prepare, or inspect documents and operate office equipment.
  • Ability to hear average or typical conversations and receive ordinary information.  Communicate effectively via phone

Travel Requirements: 50% plus travel to meet with potential new clients.
