Position Summary:

The Configuration Technician II responsible for configuration of data products including laptops, desktops and servers. Performs hardware and software configuration per order instructions. Installs custom operating systems, applications and software drivers. Clones computers. Identifies hardware or software failures and performs minor repairs. Researches and Develops new configurations. Ensure standards are maintained, suggests standards where there are no existing standards. Maintains accurate records of tests, enters required information in the company's database.

Responsibilities

  • Configure data products or workstations by order instructions.
  • Uses compliance documents to ensure equipment quality.
  • Perform asset location and assignment as required.
  • Research configuration information and maintain records of all SKUs developed.
  • Inform the supervisor of any problems and possible solutions.
  • Perform minor repairs.
  • Provide feedback to managers and supervisors on findings, both positive and negative.
  • Will need to drive occasionally for off-site work for customers to set up equipment and network.  Travel >10%
  • Perform other tasks as assigned.  May be required to work overtime or other shifts as necessary.

Qualifications

  • Good written and oral communication skills, as well as technical writing skills.
  • Proven diagnostic skills.
  • Attain/Maintain two or more hardware repair certifications from HP, Lenovo or Dell.
  • Ability to build and network a server platform.
  • In depth knowledge of current Windows OS. Entry level knowledge of current Mac OS.
  • A+ certification required.
  • Server + certification is a plus.
  • Communicate effectively in person and with remote customers and workers.
  • Proven interpersonal skills, the ability to communicate on a technical level.
  • Detailed oriented, able to work multiple tasks efficiently and accurately.
  • Read and understand technical documents.
  • Fluency in Microsoft Office preferred.
  • Valid Driver’s License and Insurance
  • Must be detail oriented and have the ability to work multiple tasks assigned.

 

Experience & Education

 

  • 2-year AA technical degree required.
  • Minimum four years of experience as a PC technician or workstation technician.

Physical Requirements

  • All positions will require, to some degree, the physical abilities described below to perform the essential functions of the job
  • Work the expected hours, consistently arrive at work at the agreed time and follow Company rules and guidelines regarding breaks and meal periods.  Full time is typically considered to be 40 hours per week
  • Move around work area, may include climbing ladders or stairs
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds of equipment or boxes above the head, alone, or with help lift 150 pounds
