Position Summary:

The Technology Shipping Clerk packages configured products for shipment via freight or Federal Express. Product must be packed so that it is shipped efficiently and arrives at the customer site undamaged. Packages should be easy for the customer to open and begin using the product. Often works with tight shipping deadlines. Asks for assistance as needed from other warehouse technicians. Helps other warehouse technicians as time permits.

Responsibilities

  • Verifying equipment matches orders.
  • Reads and follows shipping instructions, asks for clarification when necessary.
  • Boxes/packages product so that it will arrive at the customer’s site in good working condition.
  • Completes packaging in a timely manner.
  • Ships packages using the Company’s database and FedEx shipping software. Ensures tracking information is available to other users.
  • Communicates shipping exceptions to sales.
  • Assists receiving technicians when time permits.
  • Enters all incoming and outgoing orders and stock transfers using the Company's database
  • Occasionally drives Company van to deliver and pick up equipment at customer's site
  • Drives forklift safely, as needed.
  • Notifies manager when shipping supplies run low.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned, in accordance with business needs and organizational goals.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent required
  • One to two (1-2) years shipping or warehouse experience in logistics with technical equipment.
  • Able to continuously perform physical demands of packing equipment.
  • Requires a maintained, good/clean driving record.  Must be insurable by Company's liability insurance carrier
  • Must be able and willing to work overtime with little or no notice
  • Must be able and willing to perform overnight travel that may require air transportation
  • Must be able to access, input and retrieve data from Company database.
  • Ability to perform the required physical elements of the job (listed below)
  • Must be detail oriented and be able to prioritize work multiple assigned tasks
  • Good communication and customer service skills are required.

 

Measurement of Performance:

 

  • Productivity in packaging products for shipment and completing the shipping process.
  • Ability to resolve inaccuracies in shipping notes.
  • Accuracy of shipping documents.
  • On time shipment of orders.
  • Effective and efficient utilization of time in support of office goals.
  • General performance as defined by standard company performance evaluation form

 

Experience & Education

 

  • High School diploma or equivalent required
  • One to two (1-2) years shipping or warehouse experience in logistics with technical equipment.

 

*  Compensation for this role will range from $21 to $24 an hour depending on experience

 

Physical Requirements

  • All positions will require, to some degree, the physical abilities described below to perform the essential functions of the job
  • Work the expected hours, consistently arrive at work at the agreed time and follow Company rules and guidelines regarding breaks and meal periods.  Full time is typically considered to be 40 hours per week
  • Communicate effectively, both oral (in person and on the phone) and written.
  • Move around and through all work areas as needed, may include climbing stairs or ladders
  • Lift and/or move up to 50 pounds (i.e. boxes, equipment, etc.)
  • Regularly sit/stand at the assigned workstation
  • Use keyboard or equivalent equipment, to access the computer,
  • Use hands to manipulate documents, general paperwork, technical product equipment, etc.
  • Read documents, reports, files etc.
  • Communicate effectively using the telephone
