  • Overview

    The primary role of the Sales Support Rep (SSR) is to assist the Inside Sales Reps (ISR’s) with generating more revenue from open and existing quotes / business opportunities.  The SSR will work closely with his/her team of ISR’s to determine which of their open quotes / business opportunities can be closed with orders and retire those quotes / business opportunities where the opportunity has expired.  The SSR will assist and qualify controllable leads and distribute these based on several criteria including immediate revenue potential.  The criteria for lead distribution also includes: territory assignment, existing relationships, product expertise, and workload.  Occasionally the SSR will manage the lead themselves through to order closure where the need for an ISR isn’t required.


    The SSR will also work very closely with their team of ISR’s to assist with open quote follow-up.  They will meet with their team daily to discuss priorities and strategies to bring these quotes to closure.  The SSR will be responsible for closing the open COM once they determine the requirement is no longer active (project cancelled and/or requirement not needed), or the order has been lost due to other factors including price, equipment availability, and/or credit requirements.


    • Open quotes / business opportunities follow-up
    • Customer interaction on leads not assigned to ISR
    • Qualification of controllable leads
    • Distribution of controllable leads
    • Open quotes / business opportunities closure
    • Other duties as assigned


    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with accurate data entry
    • Fully competent with Microsoft Office software applications and Internet search engines
    • Must be knowledgeable on current technology trends
    • Two plus (2+) years related sales support experience or work dealing directly with customers by phone and email
    • BA degree or equivalent, plus some technical training preferred
    • Must be well organized, able to multi-task while dealing with concurrent selling situations
    • Ability to develop and maintain positive customer relationships over the phone
    • Ability to perform the required physical elements of the job (listed below)



    • Ability to successfully contact, qualify, and pursue revenue with new leads and existing open quotes / business opportunities.
    • Information accurately entered into ER’s PERFECT sales screens, emails, and contact management program.
    • Tangible evidence of SSR’s efforts measured by quotes / business opportunities closure rate, revenue captured with existing open quotes, and quality of initial lead follow-up results.
    • Team Player capable of interfacing with other sales people in multiple positions (AM, FE, ISR, Mgmt., etc.)
    • General performance as defined by standard company performance evaluation form.


    All positions will require, to some degree, the physical abilities described below in order to perform the essential functions of the job:


    Work the expected hours, consistently arrive at work at the agreed time and follow Company rules and guidelines regarding breaks and meal periods.  Full time is typically considered to be 40 hours per week.


    • Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
    • Move around and through all work areas as needed; may include climbing stairs or ladders.
    • Lift and/or move up to 10 pounds (i.e. books, reports, binders, etc.).
    • Regularly sit at the assigned workstation.
    • Use keyboard or equivalent equipment to access the computer.
    • Use hands to manipulate documents and general paperwork in order to view contents.
    • Read documents, reports, files, etc.
    • Communicate effectively using the telephone
